Nothing Is Greater Than To Die For Love
numi | February 27, 2010The Love of Humanity

We often ask ourselves; what is love? But the question more appropriately phrased is; what is love for?
Love is merely a word to describe the sentiment we feel when we communicate and attempt to comprehend the inexplicable attraction and fondness we have for something. Usually and hopefully, something other than ourselves.
Inexplicable because it is generated by our higher self, or sense of being. As it has always been said; that we love from the soul, and the heart is a physical representation of the soul. Thus our soul IS our higher self. Our personal God.
There are forms of acquired relationships in this life which invite us to pronounce the word, but relieve us from the spiritual connection the soul requires to it. To say that we love someone for who they are, and what they mean to us. But this love fails to produce in us the feelings of being “in love.”
Even without the complications of romantic love. We can find an obligatory affection for our parents, immediate family and friends. Yet, be void of the spiritual connection, the understanding and closeness to them.
However somewhere in the process of being, which begins with birth, we develop a sense or at least an awareness, of the generalized love of humanity and all things encompassing it. A love of nature, of Earth and self. An anonymous affinity to each other as a species.
It is then safe to say, and therefore also assume, that we are all cognitively united against the natural forces of evil and its prodigal acts.
How many of us do not pity the weak and powerless? Would any man refuse an end to world hunger?
Do we not have many who have already given a son or daughter, themselves, in sacrifice for the benefit and redemption of many others? Most of whom with they have never made an acquaintance.
If we found that our personal fortunes were built on the profits of cancer drugs, would we wish there be no cure?
If we could liberate the falsely accused would we not feel privileged to sit on the jury? If infanticide could be caught in the act by arresting the culprit, would we turn a blind eye?
If that or those things in which to save the world of all its ills were placed on our conscience like a sword against our breast, would we force ourselves to fall against it? Or cower in retreat, selfish in our preservation.
If we could stop fearing each other as people and realize the world can live together in peace and harmony, should we then incarcerate ourselves in a mental institution for the Euphorically Insane? As the false profits of security and deception would like us to believe. Would we shoot ourselves in the head just for suggesting it, or leave that for another Chapman, Ray or Godse?
On any given day there are multitudes of people around the world who suffer unimaginable atrocities, especially in these most civilized of days. The likes of which are so horrific, it would seem crucifixion a merciful means to death.
So then, in essence are we not all Messiahs, and Redeemers?
God is an ideal. A parallel metaphor to the benevolent and positive energies within us. A vehicle to help us relate and understand those mystic forces that lend us the capacity and capability of selfless sacrifice without personal gain. An iconic form of righteousness. A manifestation of example to follow. The catalyst which admonishes us to conduct ourselves in accordance with divine principal. Those things inherently self evident to our higher sense of being. Among them prudence, temperance, justice, and empathy. In a word, Godliness.
God is not above us, around us or watching us. God lives within all of us. It is simply a matter of whether we make the conscious decision to communicate and commingle with this energy, which is our soul, or not.
Therefore to give yourself, of yourself, to the collective cause of the common good and all the things you love around you. To forgo oneself and to sacrifice ones life in the name of love and humanity. This, is the greatest love of all. To meet our mortal end in the name of Love is something we should all feel honored, and fortunate in which to subscribe.
