The Evolution of Ignorance
numi | March 2, 2010The Common Mans Struggle with Common Sense

There truly is nothing “Common” about “Common Sense” these days. How disappointed would Thomas Paine be to see this most elementary of idioms evolve itself almost into extinction.
For generations we have made daily use of the analogous 1+1=2 depiction of Common Sense. So do you think the reason it has been such a widely referred to attribute is because it was merely intended to be a tongue-in-cheek sarcastic remark, as so many interpret it today? Common Sense, along with our Logical Reasoning Skills seem to be evaporating with the sweat off our brows. As well as our abilities to memorize, perform basic calculations, spell correctly and even properly express and articulate ourselves, without the aid of computers. Or of course, someone else to do it for us.
With the information super highway practically running through our veins, and the worlds vast wealth of knowledge literally at our fingertips. Why then are we so complacent? Resigned to relinquish investigative research and accept only what rhetoric is ushered in front of our noses. Touted as truth or disguised and smuggled in as indisputable fact.
Long gone are the days of frustrating time consuming laborious pilgrimages to the local library. Painstakingly rummaging through piles of publications and periodicals to find a lucid conclusion to our questions and curiosities. So why then do we make such a conscious effort to avoid these things we know instinctively to be true? When did it become someone elses job to provide us with our own individual conceptions of what is truth and what is not? When did we begin to make the equation between truth and fear?
When I hear people speak about the 9/11 “Conspiracy Theories” I am amazed just how illiterate, irrational and incoherent the average person can be. Especially, someone from the US. The “Capital” of the frivolous lawsuit, and the home of “Freedom of Information.”
If ANY of the information, commentary or testimony put into the 9/11 Truth Films were to be investigated and found to be erroneous, slanderous, fabricated, treasonous or even merely mischievous in any way. Do you think for one minute that there would not be lawsuits flying from all corners of the globe against the directors and producers etc?
If the government could PROVE that these truths were in fact false premeditated malicious acts of propaganda. Would they not have a criminal case against all these Film Makers, Engineers, Professors, Architects, Eye Witnesses, Police, Fireman, Rescue Workers, and Physicist who have lent their testimony to these documentaries, for treason?
Wouldn’t they have HUNG Norman Mineta for making almost criminal accusations against the Vice President of the United States, under OATH? While Dick Cheney REFUSED to testify under oath!
I can tell you for a FACT that if I go outside my apartment and start making claims such as they have with the 9/11 truth movement, concerning something about our government that WAS false, in PUBLIC. Under the PATRIOT act I would be arrested as a “Terrorist!”
So therefore is it not the INACTION of the government to entertain the idea of speaking about it openly, let alone debate about it, OR the lack of effort the government has made to prosecute anyone for it. That is in itself an admission of guilt.
Those who refuse to even consider examining the undisputed FACTS, and arriving at their own uninfluenced truth, themselves are not strong enough in character to handle it.
We accept and believe all that the government and media tells us as the gospel truth. So emphatically that we are willing to lay our lives down, and the lives of those we love. Solely based on our trust, blind faith and belief in those we elect to public office on our behalf.
Knowing full well, the harsh realities of moral and political corruption, as we have all sat around our dinner tables joking about the involvement of Big Business, Crooked Bankers and Elected Officials etc.
Yet, we have allowed ourselves to be conditioned to fear our neighbors, and those we pass peacefully on the streets. To consider every man a suspect, and every man arrested guilty till proven innocent. We don’t trust our husbands or believe our wives. Our children don’t respect us, and surely, our forefathers are not proud of us.
But somehow we find it in ourselves to trust implicitly, the solemn words of those few, and so far removed from us and our life situations, and who would care less to destroy us…
It is very sad.
