Greener Grass
Isn't It Always

He comes out on his deck. Same time again today. Ready for work and another days pay. A momentary pause before the first step. Arches his back and takes a deep breath. He looks to the right then panning to his left. With a heavy wink of his eyes and a slow frustrated sigh, he focuses dead center evaluating his own drive. Wondering, why oh why, with all my hard work sweat and pride is the grass always greener on the other side?
We don’t need a fence or crying shoulder, its easy to see the grass is greener the whole world over. Try to understand there’s a flaw in my master plan. Got all these bills to pay and there’s no hope for my 401K! My wife just called to chat; Hi Hun, its a bad hair day! So tonight I can forget about getting laid! Bobby Skinned his knee at baseball practice. Molly’s in her room crying cause her new shoes don’t match her jacket!?
Sometimes life aint all its cracked up to be. So if you please, and pleased Id be, move over just a little and let me sit for even just awhile in your greener grass.
No matter which side of Main Street you decide to take. Stop by old Mr. Meyers for Coffee and Cake, or down to number 148 where the cat lady can always be found with all her lights on but never a sound. When all her precious little babies were out about the town.
As every plot unique in its right, different in its circumstance and social plight. I promise you to the last. Inquire of any occupant his view of all the rest. You’ll find the grass is greener on just about any other side of the fence…
