West New York police use tear gas to end a four-hour stand off | Hudson County Now – NJ.com

I have a lot of problems with this article. Mostly because of the terrible reporting, and deplorable editing. If you decide to read the full article you will find that the reporters name is nowhere to be found! The caption under the article only tells you the paper it was published in. Good thing, if I could find the reporters name they would have received a scathing email from me…
Someone please tell me, when has it become a crime to refuse medical treatment? According to the article this man was in his home. It fails to tell the reader who called the police, and for what reason. It doesn’t tell you why the man refused medical care etc. There are no indications what-so-ever that this individual committed any crime to warrant the police to enter his home in the first place. Clearly violating the rights of the occupant. It simply states that the man lunged at an officer with a knife, and that it took them over four hours and the use of tear gas to extract this dangerously hardened criminal from the bathroom. A man who was so desperately in need of medical attention that the police had to be called for help. This entire story stinks of corruption, conspiracy and propaganda.
Ultimately this is a severe case of horrible reporting at the very least. No statement from the victim, or his mother who allegedly opened the door for the police. It was 2:30 PM, and after a four (4) hour stand off are we to believe there were no witnesses at the scene to interview either?
The only testimony, in fact the entire story and scenario is predicated on the words of two police officers. If the officers had told the reporter that the man had three little pigs hostage, and a big bad wolf armed with a sub-machine gun watching the back door, would that be in the article as well. More importantly, would we believe it? This article is so void of facts, and objectivity I am outraged at the incredulous behavior of everyone involved with having this story go to print in any fashion, form or medium.
In the days before we lost our personal rights and liberties, even a police officer would be considered an intruder if they were in, or on your property without just cause and entitlement. Subconsciously and inadvertently, through our silence and complacency we are giving local authorities Carte Blanche to not only enter, but to extract us from our homes, charge us with crimes, and send us to prison on the say so of Casper (the not so friendly) Ghost.
Sometimes I don’t know what is worse. The people that write this nonsense, or those who are sheepish enough to believe and support it. Why is it that most people always fail to see the point of the matter. All they see is “knife” and “lunged at police.” Case Closed?
If you believe that the police have the right to enter your home for any reason, at any time, simply because they are the police. Then you would be inclined to convict this man as charged. In which case I sincerely wish all of those people to be the next in line to receive these benevolent acts of heroism. You should reap what you sow!
When the people need to fear the government, at any level, this is Tyranny!
When the government is subservient and fearful of the people, this is Liberty!
